First covid summer

Some traces of Ellen’s visit.
Ellen was shaking them, Francis tried too, but most apples are still on the trees, ripening. Wonderful colours, summer is ending…

Summer scene
The wild flowering Montbretia (Crocosmia x crocosmiflora) gives a bit of Dutch colour, rapidly expanding everywhere, from early summer to late autumn.
Orange above, below and on all sides!
Wild fennel with cousin cow parsnip growing harmoniously in a flower patch. Hollyhock flowers climbing up the stalk…
Notice too the flowering Fuchsia, in the middle, far background, in red bloom from early spring to late autumn. Can be seen, like the Montbretia, all over the hedgerows, especially in the southwest.

Friends are self isolating in the wilds, our gardens Self isotenting

A patch of Heal All (Prunella vulgaris). The herb is something of a panacea. Can be used in salads, soups, or boiled as a pot herb. Just growing in the wild, here pictured in the orchard.

The garden already is preparing for Halloween!
